About Me

Hi, my name is Shauna.

[said in autistic flat effect].

I’m a weight-neutral registered yoga teacher and ACE-certified personal trainer and health coach with a mental health counseling education background*.

Even with an education in mental health, I didn't learn I was autistic and ADHD until 2022, at the age of 40. Like many others, this discovery was a result of a debilitating burnout.

Along with finding out I'm AuDHD, I began to add many other things to the list - like hyper-mobility - that have allowed me to connect so many dots about my own health and wellbeing. This includes answers to why so many things just do not work for me or help me the same way as others.

I understand on a personal level how harmful many coaching techniques can be since they're often rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I'm here to help you prioritize your health and wellbeing - your overall quality of life - with information and advice that recognizes very real barriers like executive dysfunction, sensory issues, rigid thinking, health anxiety, and socioeconomic health disparities.

My knowledge, training, education, and life experience have culminated into what is now my life's mission: helping others understand their brains and bauties to truly reduce stress, explore everyday accommodations, and shamelessly unmask in a world that wasn't built for self-acceptance.

* I am not a mental health professional; I am one class shy of a masters in mental health counseling (a story for a different day) so I possess a basic understanding of the medical model of mental health care, etc.

What is Embautiement Coaching?

When it comes to the desire to feel better and manage life in a way that works for you rather than against you, it can be incredibly difficult to know where to even begin.

Often people are misled into biting off more than they can metaphorically chew or start with niche, "promise-to-be-a-miracle" solutions that leave them feeling even worse about themselves afterward. This is especially true if you aren’t neurotypical or able-bodied, or live with chronic illness.

I’ve also found most people don't need the commitment of ongoing support - the feeling of needing to report.

Getting started is overwhelming; I've found this is what most people need help with. Someone qualified to help you sift through options with nuance, and make decisions to simplify and prioritize, to create a realistic plan of action that makes sense for you, your life, and your body.

I’m a certified health coach and personal trainer, and registered yoga teacher, but I'm also a person these industries aren't inclusive of.

I understand life with executive dysfunction.

I understand life with chronic illness.

I understand what it's like to feel stuck inside your brain, dissociated from your body.

I understand these things aren't my fault - or yours.

I understand I cannot "mindset" my way out of these things, but rather... manage.

I understand I cannot release suppressed emotions or process ongoing emotions if I am frozen.

I understand what it takes to help.

“Embautiement” coaching is my way of summing all of this into one.

Because of these certifications, I can help with anything from general health and fitness advice, to personalized yoga or fitness plans and general nutrition advice, to realistic ways to manage your health and wellbeing with executive dysfunction, to understanding your nervous system in a way that reduces shame and empowers you to live comfortably.

Embautiement coaching is about bautie awareness - helping you connect with your body, and yourself, to better manage daily tasks, triggers, stress, and your emotions.

What You Can Expect From Me

  • I believe in balance.

  • I believe in a mix of eastern and western medicine.

  • I believe you deserve evidence-based information with plenty of nuance because almost nothing is black-and-white, especially when it comes to our bodies.

  • I think focusing on the basics is always important, but not a substitute for medical interventions to prevent, manage, and/or heal disease. They should work together, not mutually exclusive of one another.

I believe in the fuNDamentals: shame-free stress management rooted in the physiological fundamentals, personalized for you, your life, and your bautie.

What You Shouldn't Expect From Me

  • I do not offer meal plans nor will I advocate for specific “diets” unless medically prescribed to you.

  • I won’t gaslight you for bad days or very real barriers like access, illness, mental health, finances, food and environmental sensitives, etc.

  • I won’t let you follow advice that isn’t evidence-based or is likely to lead you down a dangerous pipeline.

  • I won’t push you to dissociate or do things that make you uncomfortable to achieve arbitrary goals.

  • I won’t let you set weight or aesthetic-related goals.

The only goal I care about is how stable and validated you feel.

You can book a free 15-min info session here to see if you need a full session.

Book HERE

  • 1:1 coaching sessions are 30 minutes in length, and you can schedule as needed once we’ve completed an info session together.

  • Pricing of sessions will be determined during the info session and will depend on what I’m doing for you - general direction and advice will be priced differently than calls resulting in, for example, a personalized fitness plan.

About Me

Hi, I'm Shauna.

You may also know me as shaunaudhd or SM Jane.  I'm a weight-neutral certified health coach, personal trainer, and registered yoga teacher who learned I'm hyper-mobile and AuDHD at the age of 40.  I think restriction is bullsh*t, every bautie is unique and different, and the only thing that matters is empowering, feel-good stress management in a world that would rather us be tired, discouraged, and ashamed of our bodies and its needs.
